Eastbourne Half Marathon

An impressive morning of running was to be seen at Eastbourne Half Marathon on Sunday (5th).
In unusually calm but overcast conditions nearly 700 runners took on the 21.1KM course, famed for its gnarly climb half way up to Beachy Head, and the tight turns and bridges of Sovereign Harbour, when legs want to do anything else but turn!
20 Rovers took on the challenge, and there were a number of supporters and coaches from the club dotted around the seafront route.
Alison Moore took the tape as first lady in an outstanding time of 89:23 that puts her 3rd on the club’s all time list!
Luke Tomsett, powered through the obstacles to take 3rd place in an incredible time of 77:56 to go 9th on the club’s all time list.

Laura Seaman and Louise Ryan also ran performances that see them enter Rovers all time top 10.
A regular feature now is the Rovers cheer squad who set up camp at the 15KM marker very year. Handing out sweats to weary runners and passing on good vibes to all the competitors no matter who they are representing. A real credit to the club.

A big well done to all involved, if you’ve got a taste for the half, or been inspired, Hastings Half Marathon is coming up in a few weeks and is the first race of the Sussex Grand Prix season.
