Jeffing

Jeffing is a formal run-walk method designed to reduce the impact of running, improve stamina and minimise injury by alternating between timed intervals of running and walking.

It was ‘invented’ and popularised by US Olympian Jeff Galloway (who recently passed away age 80 – he was still Jeffing up to his passing) to encourage people to get out running for fitness and be part of a great community.

  • Helps to manage your heartrate
  • Helps build stamina
  • Minimises the impact on joints and organs
  • Enables your body to rest and reset
  • Reduces running fatigue – run further and longer
  • Takes the pressure off running ‘all the way’ when you really don’t feel it
  • Great for people returning to running from time away from the activity
  • Great for rehab and people returning from injury or surgery
  • Perfect for menopausal women
  • Wonderful for older runners
  • Great for post pregnancy
  • Lovely for a run after work when you just don’t feel like running all the way!

The perfect method for anyone and everyone who loves to run!

You decide on your run/walk ratio. Beginners usually start at 30 second running and 30 seconds walking (30:30) and progress from there.

Our group run sessions are generally 60:30 for around 3.5 – 4 miles in length, with a warmup and cooldown either end, and we use a formal interval timer. Jeff group run intervals depend on who’s running and the ratio is set with consensus of that session’s group.

All our running groups are hosted by a run leader and we have a dedicated Jeffing coach:
