FAQ & Help
OpenTrack entry system
Entry is via OpenTrack, you must register an account.
When completing your entry make sure the QP (Qualifying Performance) box is filled in with either your best mile performance, or a realistic target time so we can seed the races effectively.
OpenTrack, uses the Stripe payment gateway, be aware you may receive two Stripe receipt emails, one from us and one from OpenTrack. Rest assured you have not been charged twice.
How much does it cost?
A mile race entry costs just £10 for those who are registered with England Athletics and have a competition licence. It is still only £12 for non registered runners or those without a competition licence.
Can I enter on the night?
No. All entries must go through OpenTrack in advance of the event. This is so we can seed the races properly. We will not be able to do this on the night.
How old do I have to be?
For the mile races all ages from 9 upwards are welcome. There will not be specific junior heats unless there is significant demand.
What time is my race?
We are aiming to start races at TBC. We cannot give specific race times until entries have closed and seeding complete. As a broad guide, races will get progressively faster through the evening.
How many races are there?
We are aiming to have at least 10 x mile heats
How many people are in each race?
This is dependent on the number of entries, we would like to have around 15 in each mile heat. We can’t be exact until the heats have been seeded as it may make sense to have a race of 14 and a race of 16 for example.
What is seeding?
Seeding is an effective way of making sure you are in the correct race. You providing an accurate Season’s Best or realistic target time will ensure you are running with people targeting a similar outcome.
What pacers will there be?
We have extended invites to pacers for a variety of times for all races – though we can’t guarantee there will be a pacer for your exact target. If you want to be a pacer, please get in touch.
Race licence
The race will have an England Athletics track race licence, meaning your results will go onto your Power of 10 record.
What is Photo-Finish timing
Photo-finish timing is commonly known for those Olympic finish line images where competitors cannot be separated by eye, but photo-finish timing is running all the time provide extremely accurate times for all finishers. Photo-finish is the gold standard for race timing accuracy, ahead of manual timing then chip timing.
Can I get something to eat and drink on the night?
There will be a food truck in attendance with vegan and gluten free options.
Athletic Brewing are providing their Upside Dawn alcohol free beers. These are vegan and gluten free.
Tea and coffee will be on sale in our clubroom for £1. Contactless payment or exact money only.
What shoes can I wear?
The meeting is held under UKA rules which follow WA footwear guidance, however the referee will use discretion. We do not want to put up barriers to competition and we want our race to be accessible. Please wear what is comfortable UNLESS you are likely to be setting any records i.e. Track record/County/Area etc. or using the race to gain a qualifier for another event, in which case wear the correct footwear or you may face disqualification.
Can I get a refund?
As a fundraising event we are not able give refunds in any circumstance. If you need to swap your place let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate the transfer to a new participant into a suitable race. The request must be completed before entries are closed.
I’ve got two receipt emails!
OpenTrack, uses the Stripe payment gateway, be aware you may receive two Stripe receipt emails, one from us and one from OpenTrack. Rest assured you have not been charged twice.
