More XC Wins for Rovers

Round two of the East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League rolled into a soggy Snape Wood, near Wadhurst on Sunday (27th).
A healthy contingent of 32 adults and 7 juniors from Rovers participated despite the relentless overnight rain that continued well into the races. The course had a notable number of hills, some particularly muddy turns, and sections where water would flow like rivers! Whilst not conducive to fast racing it provided a lot of fun for participants and gave some entertainment to the fantastic marshals from Wadhurst.

Juniors

The junior races set off first, the under 11 boys scored a 4th and 5th place with Fox Andrews and Charlie Davey, the under 11 girls scored two podium finishes with Grace Luford-Brown and Georgia Lennard taking 2nd and 3rd.
The first wins came in the under 13s race where both Jonah Messer in the boys and Evie Lennard for the girls crossed the line first.
Dermot O’Rourke also took the win in the under 17s boys race.

Seniors

The senior race set off shortly after, with Rovers competing amongst the 379 runners. Eastbourne’s Alison Moore took first place in the women’s race, making it back-to-back wins in the first two rounds of the competition. Conditions were tough, but the team scored well enough to maintain Rover’s second place in the league.
