Whitbread XC

The penultimate round of the East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League took place at Whitbread Hollow on Sunday 5th.
Hosted by Run Wednesday, runners were blessed with fine conditions for the race, bright sunshine, blue skies and little wind.
The course had been changed after last years race, but still included some major climbs that would see the seniors go up past Beachy Head! Also, the 8k race was nearer to 9k, however the exciting downhill finish added to the fun.

Juniors
In the junior races Fox Andrews claimed 4th in the under 11 boys, with Charlie Davey 8th. Grace Luford-Brown was 6th in the under 11 girls.
It was a 1-2 finish in the under 13s with Jonah Messer and Joshua Webster comfortably ahead.
Dermot O’Rourke was 2nd in under 17s.

Seniors
The seniors had 25 turn up for the race, with the aim of holding on to second place in the league. The team managed 3rd on the day, however this did mean resurgent Hastings team took second on the day, and moved into second overall, with Rovers dropping to 3rd.
Notable performances came from Alison Moore 2nd lady, Sue Fry and Natalie Dawson, 1st and 2nd F50s, and Mike Thompson 3rd M65.
Alison Moore remains in the lead overall, Natalie Dawson leads the F50s.
Stuart Pelling moves into 3rd in the M35 group, Mike Thompson is second in the M65 group.
A big well done to everyone who helped us grab 3rd place, the final push is at Pett on 12th March!
