ERAC Madeira Report – October 2025

Eastbourne Rovers athletes Grant Stirling and Cara Maker have been proudly representing Great Britain at the European Masters Track & Field Championships held in Madeira, Portugal.

Grant opened his campaign strongly, finishing 6th in the M50 Decathlon with a total of 5,939 points after ten gruelling disciplines. His standout performances included a 3.50m pole vault, a season’s best long jump of 5.56m (774 points), and a sharp 100m hurdles in 16.05 (789 points).

Cara competed in the W45 Long Jump, building on her strong showing at the British Masters Championships. She produced a season’s best of 4.96m on her second attempt and followed it with a consistent series across all six jumps to finish an impressive 4th place at the European level. She also advanced to the 200m semi-finals, ranking 11th fastest overall, but was unfortunately unable to start in the next round.

Grant returned to action in the individual Pole Vault, where he matched his personal best with a 3.50m clearance to secure a bronze medal. He then added a second bronze in the Triple Jump, leaping 12.24m to close out a superb championship.

Both athletes have been outstanding contributors to Eastbourne Rovers throughout the season, representing the club in both the Southern Athletics League and the Sussex Masters League. They now take a well-earned rest before preparing for the indoor season beginning in January.
